Porpoises

Porpoises by Wm Baldwin June 24, 2011
Porpoises want what we have:
Breathing on demand,
The ability to stand on land,
Clap five fingered hands
And sing
Here fishie, fishie, fishie,
That and access to tide charts
And sun tan creams
Plus the means
To buy and sell
Both land and sea.
There may be more.
Who can say with certainty.
In all things wild
There is a less than human inscrutability
You know as well as me,
It’s hard to judge them by their smiles.
